Elders Khorkhog

While serving in Khovd, the Elders' Quorum had an activity where we went to the countryside.  While there, a spiritual thought was given, we fished and Khorkhog was prepared.  All 11 of those who went on the activity and the goat (dinner) rode to the river in Ganzorig's van.

They got right to work preparing the meal. The goat was killed in the traditional Mongolian, bloodless, painless way-- by stopping the heart with their hand through an incision made in the abdomen. The smoking cowpie kept the insects away.

A few went swimming in the river
Alan tried fishing in a fast river with no luck.
Baska with his homemade pole didn't have any better luck.
Ganzorig removed a part from the engine compartment and washed his van.
He put everything back together and we made it home.
Playing cards and reading while waiting for the meal to cook in the milk can.

Ganzorig sharpening his knife on a bowl.
The meal was goat meat, potatoes and a bowl of heram.  There was almost nothing
left but a pile of bones!
It was an unforgettable activity and was the only Elders ' Quorum Activity held so far in the mission.
