Choibalsan Sunrise

President Damdindorj wanted us to see a Choibalsan sunrise. So one morning we got up at 3:30 and were at the Russian War Monument by 4:15 to wait for the sun to come.  It was still dark and a little cold and we were wondering if it was worth it.  But when the sun came up, there was no doubt.  It was amazing to watch the sky start to light up and then, just like magic, the sun peeks over the horizon because there are no mountains around Choibalsan.  It was spectacular!

Oyuntuya, LaNice, Elder Gantogtoh, President Damdindorg, Battsetseg and Elder Bataa.  Alan was taking the pictures!  No surprise there!

 It was so worth getting up early to see.  Afterwards we drove up to a small hill that overlooked the city and then we went to President's house for breakfast.  His wife, Suvdaa, was in the hospital for treatment for dog bites she had, but Azjargal and Orungoo had fixed breakfast for us.

What a great experience to share.  It was a wonderful gift to us from

a loving Branch President.  Thank you Damdindorj!  We love you and your family!

(A side note:  I told Elder Gantogtoh I was impressed that he ALWAYS carries a Book of Mormon with him, thinking it was to give to someone he might run into as the spirit directed him.  Turns out, he carries it for protection against any dog attacks! The word really can protect us from the dangers of the world around us!)
