We had a few days of freezing fog which left us such an amazing sight.

It was a beautiful way to start the day
It was so cold that frost formed outside our clothing. Sister Onan's hair looked more gray than LaNice's--although LaNice also had some serious frost going on the fir of her hood too! This is one of the few pictures of our translator, Gambold. He's usually taking the pics for us!

It was a little hard to keep up with the snow removal in this blizzard. It snowed for about 2 days and we got about 6 inches of snow. At least, we think we got about 6 inches. The wind blew so hard and the snow never really settled, so we don't know how much we actually got. It blew so hard that Alan had snow inside his coat which was completely zipped and tied up!
This is President Damdindorj and some of the branch youth trying to get ahead of the falling snow. We were pretty amazed that they actually had snow shovels! We had never seen real snow shovels used here before. Most use a piece of plywood attached to a stick to remove their snow. The wind is blowing the snow almost horizontal! It was quite the day!
The local snow removal crew. They use pry bars and chipper bars to break up the ice on the road and then others come behind and move the chunks to the side of the road. We have also seen large groups of military guys doing the same thing. What a great way to clear the road. Cheaper than a sanding truck and snowplow!

The next day the youth were out playing soccer at -25 F and breezy. Alan could only hold the camera for a minute at a time before his finger had trouble operating the camera.
They played hard for about an hour with no major injuries and had a great time.
The cold did not slow down these little school kids at recess. This is at a school with a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs playground. We'll go there this summer when it's warm and take more pictures.

One day while LaNice was teaching piano and Alan was supposed to be clearing the parking lot, he decided to make snow removal fun by building a snow fort with the blocks of snow cut from the parking lot. The snow was too dry for snowballs. He started and before long, there were about 6 youth plus LaNice who joined him. He made it look so fun!

We get these beautiful ice crystals on our outside windows.
Getting water to the home in these temperatures is quite a chore. But this kid knew how to make it fun. And they have the most creative ways to transport the water barrels. A sled works much better in this weather than a wagon or push cart every would! The push carts work well in the summer, but not the winter!
This young member was clearing the walkway for us so we could walk to the house on a path! This was at Munkhbayar and Munkhtuya's. They have trained their children well!
A very quick trip and a first in about -20 temps. (For those who don't know
where she is, she's just coming out of the outhouse.) Gotta love the Mongolian toilets!
The end of another great day in Mongolia.
Choibalsan is known for it's beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Well deserved!
