Erdenet City Monument
Friendship Monument built by the Russians.
The monument was built years ago on the 10th anniversary of independence from Russia!
The local copper mine, GOK, built this monument for the city.

Elder and Sister England and Elder and Sister Hill came to Erdenet for a PEF Fireside. The Hills were coming to Erdenet and we were transferred to Darkhan. Chimka, our buddhist English class translator, took us to the monastery. Meega (red coat) is the England's translator.
There are many prayer wheels in each monastery. Thousands of prayers ascend to heaven with each spin!
Every monastery we visited was the home of hundreds of pigeons who loved the food brought to them by those who visited. This is Sister Hill. She reminded us of the lady in the park in Home Alone!
On the edge of town stands the 2nd tallest Budda in all of Asia. It stands 23 meters (about 75 feet) high and is 20 feet off the ground.
Alan wanted to take pictures from higher on the hill, so climbed up above the statue. It seemed a little ironic to those of us down lower that Alan was the elder who had to go home for a short time because of a heart problem, but yet he was the one who was climbing the mountain for a different picture angle!
