Bituun

The The day before Tsagaan Sar is called Bituun, the name of the lunar phase of a new or dark moon.
Traditionally, Mongolians settle all issues and repay all debts from the old year by this day. People thoroughly clean around their home, herders also clean the livestock barns and shades, to meet the New Year fresh. This time is generally spent with family, but since none of us had family here, we spent it together in our apartment.  Sister Bulgan and her sister, Delguun, also joined us.  Their mom, Myaa, is in the US with her daughter, Hulan and a new granddaughter. Sister Tsevelmaa made buuz, and I made scones and potato soup.  It was good.

Then we played UNO for awhile.  Mongolians love that game!
